The New Zealand International School (NZIS) held a ceremony to officially open the Early Childhood expansion of the Primary Campus at Jl. Kemang Selatan I/1A, Kemang, South Jakarta. This event was attended by New Zealand Minister of Education Anne Tolley, New Zealand Ambassador to Jakarta David Taylor and New Zealand counselor for SE Asia Izak Human.
The Event opened with Powhiri (NZ Maori Welcome), followed by a Haka Performance by the New Zealand International School students.
The official guests toured the Primary Campus classrooms, Library, Computer Lab, and Music Room to observe the students at work before proceeding with the signing of the Commemorative Plaque by Anne Tolley and David Taylor followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Guests were entertained by the third year students who performed a Maori action song, as we will as viewing artwork and Science displays by the Secondary students.
In the event, Hon. Minister Anne Tolley congratulated NZIS on realizing the vision, values and the key competencies of the New Zealand curriculum in a setting outside of New Zealand. (Jakarta Post, Thursday July 11, 2011)
